Digitizing — How your logo becomes embroidery
Digitization (or digitizing) is the crucial step that transforms your logo into instructions understandable by an embroidery machine. It is digital artisan work that determines the final quality of your embroidery.
What exactly is digitalization?
This is the creation of an embroidery file (.DST, .PES, .EMB, etc. format) which contains:
- The path of each needle, point by point
- The color and type of each point
- The density and direction of the points
- The order of execution of the elements
Why it matters
Bad digitization = bad embroidery. Poorly densified stitches crease the fabric. Wrong order of execution creates visible through wires. Too high a density tears the thin fabric.
At PrintPress, our operators manually adjust each parameter for your specific design and media.
Files required for proper scanning
- Ideal: vector file (AI, EPS, SVG) with clean paths
- Acceptable: High resolution PNG/JPG (300 DPI minimum), transparent background
- Avoid: screenshots, blurry photos, compressed JPEG
The matrix is permanent
Once your logo is digitized, the matrix is kept indefinitely. Each re-order with the same dimensions reuses your die for free.
